Scientific Engineering Centre “Biomass”

We are greening the future!

Period: 2012 – p.t.
Financing: AF Industry AB (Sweden)
In the framework of the joint project, SEC Biomass provides consulting services in the selection and implementation of projects. During the preparation of the projects, heat-producing and heat-supplying companies of Ukrainian cities, namely "Vinnycyamiskteploenergo", "Siverodonetskteplokomunenergo", "Kryvorizhteplomerezha", "Ivano-Frankivskteplokomunenergo" and others were considered. They planned to implement energy-efficient activities such as replacement of the heating mains and the burners by the new ones, installation of the individual heating units and biofuel boilers, etc. On completion of the analyses of the companies’ overall performance, the volume of the heat production and selling, condition and technical characteristics of the heat generating equipment and heat networks were determined, the assessment of the energy efficiency time history, including heat losses during generation and transportation, was conducted. The tariff structure and the financial condition of the companies were considered. The possible sources of feedstock and biofuels suppliers were examined for the projects related to the biofuel boilers implementation. At the following stages of the project, it is planned to introduce energy-saving measures selected for the funding.

Period: 2013
Financing: “Biogasenergo” Ltd.
The analysis of the possibility of feedstock supply (wood waste and wood chips) to the TPP (6+12 MWe) in the urban village of Ivankov was carried out. The potential of wood waste in Kiev and neighboring regions, as well as potential big and small waste suppliers were considered. Possible schemes of the organization of the feedstock logistics were examined. The proposals and technical solutions for ensuring of the feedstock stocking, transport, storing and storage were suggested. Contracts for the feedstock supply for the TPP were analyzed, and the main requirements for the feedstock quality, the conditions for its supply and price were determined. Particular attention was paid to the analysis of the feedstock supply risks, as a result of which the classification of the risks on the basis of SWOT and PEST analyses was proposed. The possible causes of the interruptions in feedstock delivery were considered. The ways to resolve problem situations were suggested. The recommendations for actions to reduce the risks were given.

Period: 2012

Under the performance of the given project data on operation of communal district heating enterprise CE “Dubnoteplocommunenergo” was collected. According to results of performed analysis experts developed technical measures on installation of biomass-fired boilers aimed at decrease of natural gas consumption, as well as technical measures on supply of high-quality heating utilities to end-users.
