7th International Conference on  Biomass For Energy was held in September 20-21, 2011, Kyiv, Ukraine. 180 specialists from 24 countries attended the conference. Workshop “Landfill gas collection and utilization at Ukrainian MSW landfills: first results, problems and perspectives”

Workshop was held on September 21, 2011 during 7th International Conference on Biomass for Energy”.  It will cover the questions of landfill gas projects preparation and implementation in Ukraine.


Workshop "Certification of Sustainable biomass"

Workshop was held on September 21, 2011 within 7th International Conference on Biomass for Energy. The goal of the workshop was introduction to the European schemes for sustainability certification.

The program included the introduction to RED, certification schemes, national implementation in the Netherlands, experiences with several schemes (NTA8080, ISCC, RED Cert,…), experience from pilot projects.

Workshop was sponsored by NL Agency (Ministry of Economy, Agriculture and Innovation, the Netherlands).

Training on NTA 8080 certification for sustainable biomass production

Training was held on September 22, 2011 at the address: Ukraine, Kiev, Volodymyrska Street 55.

The training is especially intended for organizations which want to familiarize themselves with the sustainability criteria of NTA 8080.
During this one-day course, the participants are introduced into the criteria and background of NTA 8080 and the certification procedure.

Workshop on Biomass Sustainability in Ukraine

On May 25-26, 2010 a Workshop on Biomass Sustainability in Ukraine was held in Kiev. This Workshop was organized in the framework of G2G project between the Netherlands and Ukraine. SEC "Biomass" played role of a co-organizer.

Previous conferences "Energy from Biomass"

Conferences held in 2002 - 2010 generated great interest in Ukraine and abroad. About 200 native and foreign participants took part in each of them including 50 attendees from Europe and the USA.

Landfill Methane to Markets Workshop was organized in the frame of Third International Conference on Biomass For Energy on 20 September, 2006. Workshop was sponsored by Methane to Markets Partnership and the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Workshop dedicates to effective landfill gas utilisation. Economical, financial and technological aspects of projects development and implementation were considered.

International Conference on JI Projects in Ukraine “Climate Change and Business”

International Conference on JI Projects in Ukraine “Climate Change and Business” was organized in 2005, 2006, 2007 (Kyiv, Ukraine). Each year 320 specialists from 22 different countries took part in the conference; 120 participants were from abroad (Austria, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Denmark, USA, Japan, Switzerland, Russia etc.)
Professional background of participants:

  • foreign carbon funds, which buy emission reduction units (ERUs), generated within JI projects;
  • determinators (accredited independed entities);
  • project developers;
  • governmental authorities;
  • plants, mines, and other enterprises, potential Ukrainian JI project owners;
  • energy agencies, commercial consulting firms, public sector environmental organisations.

First International Ukrainian Conference on Cogeneration for Industry and District Heating Systems

First International Ukrainian Conference on Cogeneration for Industry and District Heating Systems has been held in Kyiv, October 18-20, 2004.

Austrian-Ukrainian seminar on Bioenergy from Wood-waste, Landfill Gas and Biogas (21-22 May 2003, Kiev, Ukraine).

On May 21st, 2003, a one-day Ukrainian-Austrian seminar covering the topic “utilisation of bioenergy” was taken place in Kiev. This seminar was organised by E.V.A., the Austrian Energy Agency on behalf of the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management and Scientific Engineering Centre "Biomass".. The goal of this seminar was to identify joint Ukrainian-Austrian bioenergy projects, which shall finally be realised in the framework of the Ukrainian-Austrian Energy Partnership Program. The Austrian Minister for the Environment, Dipl.-Ing. Josef Proell, has, besides high representatives from Ukrainian energy politics, participated at the seminar.
