Analysis of the present state and prospects of bioenergy development in EU counries

The article gives a review on preconditions and a short history of bioenergy development in European countries. The authors analyzed documents adopted by the European Commission which deal with the establishment of short-term and long-term goals in energy production from renewable sources, in particular, biomass. There was given the information about main trends in bioenergy development in the EU countries leading in this sector. The authors provide data, which show the leading position of biomass among the other renewable energy sources and especially in the field of heat production. (Download .pdf)
