The paper presents analysis of the state of the art and future trends in the development of the main sectors of bioenergy in the European Union: heat and power production, biogas and biofuels for transport. The main drivers for bioenergy development in the EU are analyzed. It is concluded that solid biomass, which is used mainly for heat production, is now and will be in prospect the major constituent of different types of biomass and biofuels. (Downloads .pdf)
